Food Service Training Area

The Food Service training area prepares clients for entry-level employment opportunities in this field.  Graduates of the Kitchen Assistant training program may be eligible for enrollment in the Cook’s Assistant or Baker’s Assistant programs.  The client's rehabilitation team will determine if this additional program is necessary to achieve identified career and technical education goals.

Training Area Qualifications

  • Meet WWRC admission criteria
  • Be able to tolerate job expectations of walking, stooping, and standing for up to four hours at a time and lifting up to 35 pounds
  • Have sufficient vision and use of arms and hands
  • Have good communication skills
  • Be able to follow simple oral (gestured) and written directions
  • Be free from communicable diseases
  • Meet prerequisites for specific training program (if applicable)
  • Be seizure-free for six months or more prior to entering training
Dishwasher

Kitchen Assistant
